is by beginning. The urge to throw this all away and start fresh, to say this website isn't good enough, to say nothing I've made is good enough, is always incredibly tempting. It's difficult to make things. It's even more difficult to be happy with them. God knows there are so many other things I want to add and change with this website alone cough comment sections cough. But at some point, either time or your patience runs out and you have to put it out there and work from there.
I started working on this website about a two months ago. Along with a very late game jam attempt, two other game development projects, writing practice, art practice, triathlon training, and cybersecurity study, suffice to say I've definitely kept myself busy. When I left my IT job, I was worried about succumbing to comfort. When I setup my schedule and all the things I wanted to work on, I was worried I'd crush myself under my own expectations. As I'm preparing to leave Miami for Paris, I find myself feeling, pretty relieved. Obviously I'll never quite feel like I've done enough, I could've finished more features in my projects, I could have done more thorough testing, I could've written more, I could've made more progress on my triathlon or cybersecurity training, I could've made this website look nicer.
Nothing feels or likely will ever feel done; however, for all these things, I have still started, and I have made progress. I have often advised my friends to not berate themselves for what they haven't yet done, but to keep in mind what you hope to do while still celebrating what you have. It can be hard to listen to your own advice, I'm certainly still working on it. But for today at least, I'm trying to follow that sentiment. I've made this. It has it's faults. It has plenty of errors I already am trying to fix. I also intend to do a full overhaul of it's aesthetics. But it exists. And I feel all the happier for it.
As for what I'm going to be doing going forward, well that's a long list. In terms of this website, I hope to post 1-2 times a week ideally, I'll be providing updates on my travels for those interested in that, and I also hope to talk more about my passions, such as game development. I'll be seeking out independent game developers primarily to interview and talk about the field and their philosophies on the making of their art. I'll be looking for interesting news on game development, on upcoming games, and on what Gamers are saying they want. I will likely also post updates of projects I'm working on as I go. I'll be trying to gradually update and add more functionality to this website for whomever is interested in using it(I have set it up to give other people permissions to write here), and it's very likely I'll do a complete overhaul on the aesthetics and functionality of the site once I get the chance.
For now though, I hope that you like whatever I take the time to write about here. Who's to say where this all will go. I am after all, just beginning.
